Astigiano (the location)
The southern part of the province of Asti is part of the Alto Monferrato, a higher hilly region belonging to the Apennine foreland of Asti.
sedimentary soil of Alto Monferrato (which originates from movement of
the seabed during the tertiary period towards the Apennines) is
predominantly lime rich, loamy, sand based soil. This is an ideal soil
for the production
of quality wines, with minimal requirement for the use of manure.
The altitude of the vineyards (ranging from 200 metres to 400 metres), the continental climate and the long hours of sunshine guarantee fully ripened grapes of high quality each year.
